The hero of the story, but far from it at first glance. After his father’s murder by a mysterious bandit called, “Red Hat”, he has grown fearful and feels lost navigating life. Kit devotes himself to helping his family run their business. Though he struggles with adequacy with every decision. When finding out about the possibility of Red Hat’s whereabouts he is keen to prove his worth, get closure for his father, and understand who Red Hat is.

Red hat

A mysterious bandit known throughout the county for his ruthless nature. He goes by many names due to his elusiveness and is thought to have been killed or escaped after many years of no sightings. So much time has passed,  many believe Red Hat is just a cautionary tale to travelers. But to Kit and every victim encountered knows he's all too real.

Emily laws "little em"

Kit’s mischievous and sassy little sister, whom he adores. She’s quite smart for her age, with a sharp tongue to boot. Emily was just born when her father was taken from her and often struggles to understand the intense emotions her brother and mother feel towards Hickory. She isn't without her troubles though, as connecting to her peers is difficult.

Song ru

 Song Ru leaves his country and family in search for his father. Song possesses a strong determination and sense of purpose, that captures the attention of Boone Masterson. Seeing his potential, Boone hires Song as a assistant, he values Song's matter-of-fact nature, and finds his sarcasm entertaining. The two quickly become friends and agree to help each other in their causes.

Hickory laws

The patriarch of the Laws family. A true model of who Kit wants to be like as a adult. Hickory is a hard-working dog that has successfully established his own cattle goods shop and is a self taught cattle Doctor. Although Kit feels his father left big shoes to fill, Hickory always believed his son would do great things

Nora laws 

Kit’s loving and protective mother. During the day she runs the family business of cattle goods with charm and kindness. But years without her husband and raising two children has worn her down, and due to her fear of losing Kit in the same way as her husband they have since performed house calls for the cattle.

Boone masterson 

Heir to a legacy left by his forefathers, Boone is a wheelwright business owner on the verge of expansion when he falls victim to Red Hat’s reign of terror. His estate is swarmed, occupants killed off, and money and riches pillaged. With little money left, and his business and reputation on the line Boone is hell bent on getting his fortune back.   

Francis dunn

A well known Bounty Hunter that thrives in her conquests. She loves the thrill of capturing the bounty and doesn't think twice about killing someone if the bounty calls for it. She’s rough around the edges, calculated, and finds her job liberating. Which is why she is eager to find and capture the most elusive of bandits, Red Hat, and join Kit and company. For the right price.
